Mind Maps

I have been working with mindmaps lately. I thought I might share some information.

The laptops have a program called Freemind. This is great because you don't need to rely on the internet. Check out this link to see how it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grut_2cardM

The advantage of using Web 2.0 Mindmaps is the ability for students to collaborate on line. I have used 2 websites. Bubbl.us and Mindomo. I found Bubbl.us very easy to use and basic. We have planned to use this with year 9 when the laptops arrive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FnYgiwfP0E

I prefer the versatility of Mindomo, and it is very similar to Freemind. I have set up some mindmaps to share with my senior students (PDHPE). I think it is an excellent revision tool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXjCNksJK00

I hope this is helpful information.

It is very disappointing to hear that many schools, like us, will need to spend a lot of money (we don't have) to set up infrastructures (fiber optic cables ???) before we can take advantage of the second round of installation of wireless ports.
